Vera G. McKee, 93, of Gordon, former lifelong resident of Lexington, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at Gordon Memorial Hospital.
   A Celebration of Life Reception will be from l to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 4, at the Holiday Inn Express in Lexington.
   Visitation was Friday, March 3, at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington, which is in charge of arrangements.
   Survivors include one daughter, Lana McKee (Jeff) Hubbard of Gordon; four grandchildren, Dane Hubbard of Gordon, Tova (Rob) Shaffer of Omaha, Tyson Hubbard of Omaha, and Jesse Hubbard of Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; three great-grandchildren, Shayleen and Isabella Hubbard and Quinten Shaffer; one brother, Wayne (Helen) Young of Lexington; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle McKee in 1984; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Melrose and Clayton Ransdell; brother and sister-in-law, Muarise and Bernie Young; niece, Shirley Trautman; and two nephews, Robert Ransdell and Timothy Young.
Vera was born Nov. 13, 1912, at Lexington, to Arthur E. and Frances M. (Anderson) Young.
   She was a graduate of Lexington High School with the class of 1930. On June 24, 1937, she married Merle McKee at Lexington. Merle preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1984. Vera was a homemaker and mother and helped Merle with the farming operation. The couple also raised quarter horses for many years.
   Vera was a member of First Christian Church since 1925, where she was active in Women's Council as well as Bible Study. She was a member of Chapter FS PEO, the L.R. Kensington Club, past member of the Plum Creek Jane's, Brownie leader for many years, a past member of the American Quarter Horse Association and also assisted Merle with the 4-H horse club.
   Vera moved to Gordon with her daughter and son-in-law in 2005. She so enjoyed her grandson, Dane, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
   Memorials are suggested to Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, First Christian Church or donor's choice.
