Donna M. Linn, 71, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born July 29, 1936, near Eustis, in Frontier County, Nebraska, to Ray A. and Neva B. (Hess) Rupe.
     Donna moved with her family when she was 12 years old to the Lexington area. She attended school and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1953. On October 9, 1954, she was united in marriage to Dean E. Linn at Eustis, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this union; Michele, David and John.
     Donna's working career spanned many years, starting with working as a secretary for Fred Warnemunde, a legal secretary for Cloyd Clark in Elwood and a legal secretary for Larry Weber in Lexington. In 1986, she ran for and was elected Dawson County Clerk. She would serve Dawson County in this capacity until 2006.
     She was always a very hard-worker and put 100% into everything she did. Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved being with her family. She enjoyed reading, watching Tiger Woods, coffeeing with friends, playing cards, cribbage and spending time with her great-granddaughter, Josie.
     Donna was a member of First United Methodist Church and a past member of Business and Professional Women. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
     Survivors include one daughter: Mickey and husband Steve Reiter of Kearney, Nebraska Two sons: Dr. David and wife Grace Linn of Pine, Colorado, John Linn of Gering, Nebraska. Two sisters: Gloria and husband Harold Benzel of Dixon, California, Karen and husband Ed Darby of Lexington, Nebraska. Six grandchildren: Hannah Richter, Dawn Reiter, Jacob Reiter, Margaret, Anna and Sarah Linn. One great-granddaughter: Josalinn Richter.
     Donna was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
     Funeral Services will be Friday, July 11, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverends John Craig and Jaime Farias officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or the Donor's Choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements. Raymond L. Schwarz, 71, of Lexington, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at his home south of Lexington, with his family near his side. Visitation will be held Wednesday (today), April 4, 2007, from 2-5 p.m., at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with wake service at 7 p.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, April 5, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with the Rev. Paul Colling officiating.
   Burial will be in the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery at Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
   Survivors include his wife, Judi Schwarz of Lexington; one son, Shane (Daphne) Schwarz of Elwood; three daughters, Deb White of Lexington, Kris (Scott) Hueftle of Holdrege, and Mindi (Shawn) Area of Overton; one stepdaughter, Rochelle (Darin) Zebell of Marshfield, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way; five brothers, Carl Schwarz and Mike (Sandra) Schwarz, both of Lexington, Keith (Cindy) Schwarz of Arapahoe, Kenny (Shirley) Schwarz of Elwood, and Eugene (Nancy) Schwarz of Ft. Collins, Colo.; two sisters, Alice (Floyd) Wenburg and Martha (Wally) Hubbard, both of Lexington; mother-in-law, Blanche Searls of Eustis; brother-in-law, Sam (Eva) Searls of Eustis; and sister-in-law, Terri (Marvin) Tridle of Surprise, Ariz.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; and two special friends, Merlin Holden and Joe Hernandez.
   Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry and Bob; stepson, Chuck; father-in-law, Chick, and two infant children, Raymond Ernest and Sharol Lynn.
   Raymond was born July 4, 1935, at Smithfield, to Frank and Dorothy (Woodside) Schwarz. He was a graduate of Lexington High School with the class of 1953. Following graduation, he went to work for Paulsen Construction and Britton Construction. He then started Schwarz Brothers Construction with his brothers. Ray worked as a bricklayer until his health forced him to retire. He married Judi Searls on Oct. 22, 1988 at Kearney.
He was a member of the Lexington Eagles Club and a social member of the Veteran's Memorial Club.
   Ray was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to "Make a Wish Foundation," the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.

Elvera "Pat" Racek, 71, of Lexington, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
   Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with Wake Service to follow at 7 p.m. also at Reynolds-Love Chapel. Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at 2 p.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Paul Colling officiating.
   Burial will be at the St. Ann's Cemetery in Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of the arrangements.
   Survivors include her husband, John Racek of Lexington; one brother, Allen (Peggy) Schnakenberg of Walnut, Calif.; three daughters, Pam (Arlan) Ackerman of Lexington, LaRae Hammond of North Platte, and Teresa (Scott) Tomasek of Omaha; one son, Mike (Audrey) Racek of Lexington; grandchildren Leia (Mike) Underwood of Oconto, Jory Wood of Lexington, Christina (Brad) Wagener of Lexington, Angie Chaney of Haskell, Okla., Schuyler Racek of Omaha, Betsy Racek of Lexington, Harrison "Bubba" Racek of Lexington, Tucker Tomasek of Seattle, Wash., and Trista Tomasek of Kansas City; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Herbert Schnakenberg, two sisters, Doris Richardson and Arleen Limbaugh and a grandson, Jay Racek.
   Pat was born the fifth child of Ernest and Beata Schnakenberg on May 21, 1935, at Davenport, Thayer County, Neb., at a neighbor mid-wife's house. She joined four older siblings, Herbert, Arleen, Doris and Allen.
   She attended the Kiowa Lutheran Parochial School until the family moved north of Davenport where she then attended the St. Peter's Lutheran School and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith in May, 1949.
   During the summer of 1951, she lived with her oldest brother Herbert in Crete where she worked at a cafe. She moved to Lexington with her parents that fall and graduated from Lexington High School in 1953. During her high school years, she worked as a waitress until her senior year when she worked at an insurance/accounting firm and was hired full-time upon graduation.
   On her 20th birthday, Pat was married to Lee Hammond and two children, Pamela and LaRae, were born. The marriage ended in divorce and Pat raised two daughters with the help of her parents.
   In Dec. 1961, she was married to John Racek. They have made their home in Lexington for the past 45 years. Pat continued her employment for local attorneys and later went into the tax profession until her retirement after 50 years in the workforce.
   Pat and John together renewed their faith by becoming members of the St. Ann's Catholic Church.
   She was a member of the Dawson County Democrats, the Democratic Women's Caucus, the Association for Retarded Children and Legal Secretaries Association. She also served on the board of Trinity Lutheran Church, chairman of the St. Ann's School Board and the St. Ann's Church Council. She often volunteered for church activities and Meals on Wheels.
   Her greatest love was family and she especially welcomed visits with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed the challenge of work, the time with friends and her home life upon retirement.

Margaret A. Zimmerman, 72, of Lexington, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
   A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with the Rev. Caroline Vickery officiating.
   There will be a private inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery near Lexington.
Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
   She is survived by two sons, Robb (Kim) Zimmerman of Owatonna. Minn., and Steve (Tiffany) Zimmerman of Everett, Wash.; two daughters, Sheri (Keven) Aldridge of Littleton, Colo., and Margerey (Steve) Fox of Highland Ranch, Colo.; one brother, Dave (Mary Ruth) Gauger of Raymond, Wash.; one sister, Miriam J. Butler; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces, and special friends, Bill and wife Deloris Livingston of Lexington.
   In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her brother John P. Gauger of Lexington.
   She was born Sept. 23, 1934, in Fremont, to Earl L. Gauger and Esther B. (Berg) Gauger.
   She graduated from Lexington High School in 1953. After graduating from Principia College near St. Louis, Mo., in 1958, she taught physical education at Kearney State College. She also worked as a teacher's aide in the Lexington schools and as a receptionist at a local chiropractic clinic in Lexington.

JoAnne Hawks, 70, of Lexington, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at her son's home in North Platte.
   Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington, with Pastor Megan Morrow officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 6, at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington, which is in charge of arrangements.
   Survivors include her husband, Glenn Hawks of Lexington; two sons, Scott (Kristi) Hawks of Lincoln, and Jim (Janelle) Hawks of North Platte; one daughter, Lori MacDonald of Lincoln; three brothers, Dick (Maxine) Warren of Springfield, Ore., Jim (Donna) Warren of Springfield, Ore., and Roy, Jr. (Betty) Warren of Salem, Ore.; six grandchildren, Matthew (Briana) Hawks of North Platte, Nate Hawks of North Platte, Jennifer (Jonathan) Carter of Lincoln, and Jordon, Ryan and Leah MacDonald of Lincoln; and one great-grandson, Jackson Carter of Lincoln.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Stanley Warren; and two sisters, Maxine Hodges and Juanita Moore.
   JoAnne was born March 13, 1935, at Lexington, to Roy and Ollie (Gullick) Warren. She grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1953.
   On June 2, 1953, she married Glenn Hawks at Lexington. Three children were blessed to this marriage: Scott, Jim and Lori.
   When the children were growing up, JoAnne worked as a nurse's aide at Lexington Community Hospital. She also worked in the cafeterias of Morton Elementary and Lexington High School. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Christian Women's Club.
   JoAnne loved life and always had such a special twinkle in her eye. She enjoyed doing crafts and going to craft shows, crossword puzzles, word games and playing cards with her friends.
   She and Glenn traveled to Branson, Mo., for vacation for the last 33 years. She so enjoyed that trip in the fall. But, her most enjoyable times were spent with family, and most especially, her grandchildren. She will be so missed.

Jimmy Lee "Jim" Woodside, 69, of Lexington died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. The Rev. Caroline Vickery will officiate.
   A private family inurnment will be held prior to the memorial service at Greenwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. It was Jim's wishes his body be cremated. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
   Jim was born May 26, 1936, at Lincoln to Martin and Lucille (Goedert) Woodside.
   Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Woodside of Lexington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles M. and Linda Woodside of Kearney, and David L. and Michelle Woodside of The Woodlands, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Kay Barton of Overton and Barbara J. and Larry Hedrick of Kearney.
   Other survivors include five grandchildren, Jerrod Barton, Justin Barton, Kathryn Woodside, Alexander Woodside and Owen Woodside.
Jim attended Lexington schools and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1953.
   He attended Kearney State College and the University of Nebraska before returning home to farm.
   On Oct. 12, 1958, Jim married Dorothy Olds at Lexington. To this union, four children were born.
   Jim was very active in his church and church organizations. He had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington since 1936, where he served as an elder, trustee, Sunday school teacher, nominating pastor committee, bell choir member, and hosted many Bible study groups. He was also active in the Westminster Woods Camp board, properties committee, and served as a counselor for fishing camp.
   Jim was also very active in the farming community and Dawson County. In 1979, he received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award.
He was past president of the Cattleman's Association and cattle buyer for Cornland Dressed Beef, and established the Woodside-Meyer Feedlot.
   Jim helped develop the Program for the Rural Crisis Hot Line.
   In 1982, he was a member of the Dawson County Ag Society.
   From 1995 to 2000, Jim was the manager of the Dawson County Fair.
   He was owner/operator of ABC Appliance Repair.
   Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister, Jeanne.
